It is discouraged for double coated dogs to be shaved. There is a potential for the coat to not grow back, grow patchy, cause skin irritation, and other conditions. If you opt to shave your double coated breed, you will be required to sign a waiver reiterating these points.

Breed Standard Clips

Only for those wanting a True Breed Standard Clip

High skill is needed as well as length of time for any standard Breed Clips. As a result, costs are calculated on the length of time taken to complete. This is quoted per hour basis and with each individual pet’s needs.

(Non-undercoated dogs such as poodles, schnauzers, bouviers, westies, scotties etc.)

We understand that not all cats are candidate for a bath. Therefore, we do offer a waterless bath option, but it is not as effective as a full bath.

A la carte services are services that can be done in half hour or less. An appointment is now required due to high volume of salon.

Dematting/Stripping Coats

Both the dematting process and stripping off matted coat can be a slow process that takes skill and extra care from our groomers. It is also demanding on our bodies, equipment and often requires extra sharpening of blades and scissors. Because of these reasons, there are extra fees associated with dematting and stripping.

Small and Medium breeds $15.00 per 1/2 hour dematting
Large and Extra large breeds $20.00 per 1/2 hour dematting

Flea Baths

Any dog or cat that we discover to have fleas is immediately given a flea bath to reduce the risk of parasite transmission to the other pets in our care. The salon is thoroughly treated with a flea premise spray after every case of fleas is discovered to protect the other pets that visit us.

An extra fee of $25.00 is always applied to regular grooming costs

Skunk Baths

Odor eliminating shampoo, a mild fragrant shampoo containing ingredients scientifically developed to completely deodorize skunk and tomcat spray.

Teeth Brushing

We are pleased to provide cleaning treatment. On the other hand, teeth cleaning is highly recommended on a daily basis to help reduce plaque and tartar. Teeth cleaning that we provide is not, by any means, to replace the oral cleaning that your veterinarian is able to provide.

If your pet does show signs of sever tartar, inflamed gums or loose teeth we will not provide this service but highly recommend that you make an appointment with your regular veterinarian.

Teeth Cleaning is an extra fee of $15.00

Medicated Bath

We are pleased to offer a specialized medicated bath. The Canadian Medicated Shampoo is an antiseptic shampoo indicated as an aid in the treatment of nonspecific superficial dermatoses in dogs and cats. It is formulated with emollients that soothe itching and leave the coat soft and manageable. The shampoo perfumes the skin and coat with a floral fragrance.

Extra fee of $25.00 applied to regular grooming cost.

Specialized Behaviours

We understand that not all pets may react the same attitudes for the grooming process. We never discourage the thought of grooming a more aggressive dog. We always mention to our client that we try as best as we can and if we cannot groom their dog we will refer them accordingly. As a result, this a specialized skill in order to successfully groom the more difficult pets. This may require in the use of protective equipment such as muzzles, gloves etc. We use the protective equipment to keep both pet and staff safe throughout the grooming process.

As a result, extra fees may be added to regular grooming costs. Starting at $10 + HST & up depending on aggressive behaviours.

Groom & Stay Packages

At The Pet Spaw & Lounge we are a grooming facility and provide quality and professional service. As a result, we kindly ask our clients to pick up their pets at a reasonable time after their groom has been completed (within 2 hours).

Should your pet need to stay for the day, we offer “groom and play” packages that may be added as an additional cost on top of the grooming.

We are mainly a kennel free environment with the option of separating aggressive or nervous pets if needed. Dogs that are overstimulated or aggressive may be asked to be picked up immediately after their groom or scheduled on a day where you are more readily available. We groom several rescue and senior dogs that can be negatively influenced by a stress or high anxiety.

Also, keep in mind due to the very busy area we are located, it is a liability to take your pet outdoors to do their business. We do have an area where the dogs can relieve themselves, but keep in mind majority of dogs will not use indoor area. Dogs view the world around them through smell, sight, and sounds. Therefore, this will not have a negative impact on house training.

Consequently, staff must continuously be attentive to your pets to provide a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment. Dogs like to play like dogs! They will run, chase, be chased, grab each other, fall down, bark, trip, pull on each others’ ears and tumble. Staff is therefore needed to monitor your pet to make sure they are safe. They may, at times, soil themselves or get messy from all the playing, as a result staff must “freshen” them up prior to going home (this may result in re-bathing and brushing).

An extra fee of $20 applied when picking up 2-4 hours upon completion of groom

Additional Staff

At times, additional staff members are needed to aid in the grooming process as a safety precaution. Such instances would include an older pet that is unable to stand, squirmy pets and various behavioural attitudes etc. Therefore, the grooming process takes longer and additional staff costs can accrue when necessary.

An extra fee of $25 and up will be applied to regular grooming costs.
